Also one must note that both JIC/AN fittings have a 37 degree flare mating surface vs many SAE fittings which have 45* which obviously won't work. I know that first hand lol.

Also there are differences between JIC and AN regarding their threading. Both will seal at 37*, however, AN utilizes a different thread shape than the JIC which is weaker. So JIC threads will give up before an AN will.
