while negotiating with Rick
for a set of street wheels

they would be perfect to test our tramlining theories

17x8.25, 25mm et iirc

i'd just remount the same street tires
and see if wheel width is the determining factor

i offered to swap the set of r888s for the set of xxr's
sound fair?

heavy wheels by the way
21lbs vs 18 for the 17x9 zegins

found these on their site
16x8.25
http://www.nlmotoring.com/XXR-527-Wheels-16x8-25-Matte-Bronze-p/52768087n.htm

perfect short track size
with 245/45/16 r888s
or Hoosier slicks

lanier raceplex track set^

@shanover maybe we could share ,
at least to try them out
lol

zegins and conti slicks for AMP

and now for the dragon
17x8.25 xxr's and ???

maybe some Korean dragon biters
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Kumho&tireModel=Ecsta+V720&sidewall=Blackwall&partnum=44WR7V720&tab=Sizes

that's it
maybe 6 events for next year
got till april to get set

must stay off dragstrip
and run at 80% at track

60% at the dragon

max
:47:
sure, I'd be willing to share with you! and it would be interesting (even if you just tried the wheels and tires I have now) to see if it makes a difference in the tramlining. I have found out, over the last few days, just how bad traction suffers when the tires are cold. My all seasons MAY be All Summer Season tires. I guess the only really good thing, is they dont bounce and jerk all over the place when they break loose.
have a few preventive repairs to take care of over the holidays, and I am on vacation. (front wheel bearings, steering rack bushing, maybe a few other odds and ends)

Glad to see your house finally shaping up like you want it to!

edit to add: Still planning on going 5 lug, but have a long way to go to get there. I will order up all the parts, including wheels and tires, and do it all at once. I will have to get new hats for the front rotors as well. it will definitely be a project!

Nice.

I'm considering moving the battery to the trunk simply to free up space. It looks like it really opens up the engine bay in that corner.

The downpipe wrap looks significant/good/useful. I'm afraid I'm cooking my alternator with my unwrapped downpipe. I'm considering offset wrap rather than using the actual wrap.

I pushed my car back into the garage today. Trying to track down O2 wiring stuff, everything was unplugged when time ran out. I hope to get the car running with a working bank 2 heater element soon, and then hopefully pass emissions and get my car legal. For now its guts are open to the air.

after two days of hard running

broke the spal fan mounts on one fan
replaced with jegs spring loaded mounts

oil had gone everywhere
traced to an unported valve cover

ported the VC

the mount on my boost control vibrated loose and was lost
boost controller now mounted on the valve cover

my fan controller t-stat had vibrated loose as well
giving the radiator giving intermittent fan operation

fixed with rtv
fans now work

runs and handles like new

after boost controller was reset
it idles smoothly and pulls from 2000 rpm up

this is the best it has EVER been
better than new
[except for cosmetics]

Hey man, can you explain this ported VC to me? Problem you saw and then what that means to port it?

Glad to hear it's running well. It's a rare but amazing feeling when they do, ha.

learnings
puting an 11 lb batery in the trunk does not in any way affect handling.
ether by feeling or what i can measure.

short fat, sticky, tires work well for turbo cars with cams
the conti slicks are 24" tall and 9.4" wide

and are imo, perfect with c1 cams
in the 0-130mph speed range

12kg springs with as little preload as practical,
are workable on the street for a sat nite special
and
provide added safety and car control, at higher speeds and Gs

SPAL fans are better

don't forget to drill out the valve cover

imo

fans finally failed this morning right after i mickey moused the fuel line hole

installed my old fuel pressure sender [from the nitrous kit]
in place of the chunk of hose with the hole

tried to cut out the fan block
but wires got so hot,
did not think that was a good idea

engine reached 224*f before i realized no fans
and then instant shut off

damn,da damn damn

people have asked me multiple times what is your turbo kit and how much does it cost

it was done piecemeal,
i was very dubious of this project
and some parts i wanted cheaply replaceable

so here is the original version

2JR Full Race Turbo - 50 trim $ 7 99.00
TR Manifold, 2JR Downpipe $ 4 99.00

2JR Pro Race Oil Kit $ 1 99.00
2JR 900 CC Bosch Injectors $ 3 25.00

2JR Intercooler Kit with piping, couplers, clamps $ 5 25.00
2JR Heat Wrap, downpipe and turbo $ 9 9.00

2JR Oil Line Heat Wrap $ 4 9.00
2JR Downpipe, Mandrel Bent, with High Flow Cat $ 2 99.00

2JR Turbo Boost Gauge $ 1 29.00
Tial Full Race Wastegate $ 3 29.00

Tial Blow Off Valve $ 2 99.00
2JR Vacuum Block $ 59.00

a mechanical boost controller, turbo blanket, 340 fuel pump, 3" side exhaust and dual spal fans were added later

a stage 4 pressure plate and stage 6, 6 puck disk with steel 14lb flywheel were behind the motor
