Yesterday I went to roll up the left passenger window and it just fell into the door. Opened up the door panel and the motor arm works but I'm not 100% on how the side black pieces were to stay snug around the knob of the arm. I have some pics below. I looked to see if any parts broke off and fell but I didn't feel anything. Any help ?

Seems like that's how it would work. The pin would go through the two black sliders and the knob connected to the lever. I would need to check if there's actually a hole to run through all three of the pieces. Anyone know ?

I don't believe there's a cotter pin holding the ball into the plastic slider. I can't see the pictures as my work network blocks that kind of thing, but it sounds like exactly what's happened to each of my rear windows. The plastic slider breaks in half and the window simply falls into the door.

I haven't put in enough research where to find a replacement part, but if you just need your window up until you find what you need I can help.

Take off your door panel and locate the window actuator arm that raises and lowers with the window switch. Push your window as high as you can so it's closed. Push down on the power window switch so the arm falls below the track the slider moves on. Once you're past it, push the arm out towards the door. Pull the window switch up so that the arm pushes on the bottom of the track and holds up your window.

That should at least keep it closed until you figure it out. It also helps to disconnect the passenger window switch so that nobody accidentally tries to put it down.

I pushed the two black sliders closed in onto the ball but it doesnt stay. I pushed it in just enough for it to stay on the track and powered them up. But if i try to put the window down it just drops because the ball doesnt stay on. im so confused.

That's a great question. When I went to my parts department, they were talking about how I had to order the entire window glass because that piece is connected to it and not sold separately. I think they're on crack. There's no way I will buy an entire window glass just for a little piece of plastic.

If any of your online searches yield nothing you can use, I would recommend looking at the salvage yards. Maybe even experiment with a way to stick that slider back together again.

go to a pick and pull and grab the plastic piece, i had this happen to my 92 bmw and i ordered just the plastic piece, or try going to an auto glass shop (one that's been there for a long time) and see if they have anything that will work. good luck

I've been unlucky enough to have this happen to my rear windows 3 times! Twice for the passenger and one for the driver side. Oh and my tint got messed up when the window fell down to add insult to injury. There's no way I'm buying another window regulator just have it break in a couple of years.

ah yes this happen to me on the rear driver passenger door. all you have to do is take out that whole metal piece where the plastic slides. Take those out because that piece broke those two where supposed to be connected together. in order to take the piece out unscrew the the bolts that hold that metal slide. use vice grips to open one side so the plastic pieces fall out. use vice grips to close it back up. now the ball can fit in there and if not open one side so th ball can fit. pretty much vice grip the whole bar to where the ball moves back and forth with out it coming out. and your set ill see if i can get some pictures. today?

I'm having the same problem with my left rear window and having to spend the money and time replacing the whole regulator assembly just because the little plastic piece broke really sucks. I'm going to try your suggestion.

Also, the right rear window won't respond using either the switch on the that door or the driver's door. The main set of switches on the driver's door work for the three other windows. How to I test to see if it's a bad switch, a relay, or the motor on the rear passenger side window? Any help would be appreciated, thanks...
