ok where to start.... yes i have used the search button.. wore that bitch out...

im going to pick up another roller rocker from the junk yard and build it while i wait for mine to die. here is my list of parts im curious if anyone has anything to add or subtract.

pistons out of a rwd black top
new rings and bearings
stock rods
ve valve springs
head gasket and studs
valve seats
micro polish the crank.
s3r cams
mill the head
im undecided on the low port manifold
im going to stay n.a to i figure out what class i want to run.

next other then a piggy back (e-manage or safc) who reflashes ecu for the 2001 b15??? that has been hard to find. i have to go thru emissions so id like to be able to alter the ecu.

ive read the sr20 forum guide to roller rockers 2 times but other then the pistons it doesnt tell me many weaknesses.

any info would help. thank you

Id vote for ve pistons. Higher compression for NA is good.

You can get all of the parts new from marsh tuning or gspec.com.

There's a reason why sr20's last so long. Hard to find a weakness.

Yes, use a piggyback, safc is easiest.

I'm not sure about a shim trick, but a VE oil pump is a very nice upgrade. But...you need the ve pickup and spacer. If you order from Mark @ Marsh Tuning or GregV @ gspec, they will get you what you need.

RR pump 50-60 PSI hot ( 7000 RPMs )
VE pump 90-110 PSI hot ( 7000 RPMs )

Really, there are a LOT of things you can do, but are they necessary for you? Only you can answer that.

There's...
GTiR bearings (they have 5 oiling holes, instead of the standard 1 oil hole)
Oil squirters (VE and DET motors came with them and can be installed)
8cw crank (supposedly stronger and balances better, but 4cw crank is lighter)
Girdle (RR oil pan needs to be modified to fit a girdle. Strengthens the integrity of the block)

Definitely more out there. Finding a good machine shop is key. Andreas Miko has a JDM RR motor for sale, or did a week ago. That comes with better piston, iirc. That way, you don't even need to open the block. Not sure of the compression ratio on a JDM RR. The best blocks are usually the factory-built ones.
