more than likely though if a car is in the junk yard and the back end or side is smash to fuck, then more than i am willing to pay $10 4 or 5 times to get a good one than to pay 180 for a new one.

so after driving for about 1500 miles with the light on, the light turned off randomly. Friday the light went off. I drove about 100 miles this weekend and the light came back on sunday afternoon. Don't know why I would do it all on its own. Just want this damn thing to stay away and left me alone....

had the same problem when i was n/a.

p0037 is for the PRIMARY (top) o2 sensor. it should only be about 78 bucks from nissan (honestly, if you want the light to go away and stay gone, get an oem nissan sensor). i tried everything, even used sensors from buddies and nothing worked until i broke down and got an oem 'san one.

put the thing in, take negative terminal off for 15 min (or pull ecu memory fuse) and then plug it all back up.

p0037 is low voltage bank 1 (primary) o2 sensor lean. i had the code for a long ass time, trust me, i know how annoying it is. oem nissan sensor should be kosher.

fuck, nissan told me it was the bottom sensor. So I replaced that one. Damn them bastards!!!!! Ok well im going to go out to the junk yard and yank one off a wreck qr25 i find in the yard and put that piece in. Thanks I have been searching this for MONTHS!!!!!!!!!

What Nissan told you was correct. P0031 is bank 1 sensor 1 which would be the 1st sensor. P0037 is for bank 1 sensor 2. That probably explains why the guy that posted above this had such a hard time fixing it.

well, you can listen to whoever the fuck you want to, but i'm telling you, I had the code sporadically over a year and replaced the bottom o2 without luck (car is an 06).

Maybe it's just a HUGE coincidence that the light went away as SOON as I changed the primary o2? Nah, it wasn't. Trust me, it's your top o2.

ok well i have replaced the bottom one about 2 months ago with no luck since. So ill switch out the top one and take it from there. Thanks. I'll follow up when I do so.

My radiator fans cut the heater wires in my bottom O2 sensor. I have video of the code because I used my video camera to time the pedal dance. I can upload the video if you need proof of the code. I can also take pictures of both of my O2 sensors. My primary O2 sensor wires are intact. My secondary sensor wires are held together by wire nuts.

I had the code constantly until I spliced the wires back together. I never touched my primary O2 sensor or the wires on it. Once I spliced my wires back together I cleared the code and it has not come back.

So if you think it's a bigger coincidence that I have an OBVIOUS problem with my secondary sensor and the code went away as soon as I fixed the problem then I guess I just have to agree with you.

Do you think Nissan is honestly going to tell this guy the wrong info for a pretty common code? Yes, he can trust whoever he wants but I highly recommend disregarding anything both of us say and talk to the experts at Nissan.

nissan told me to replace the bottom o2 sensor. Which I did already and now im here on the forums cause that didn't work. Both of you have done completely different things to remove the same code. So im going to just replace the top one and go from there. Hopefully I can go to emissions and not back to the drawing board. lol

patric:

i'm not saying that the code can't be removed by changing the bottom o2. i don't need to see the video, and i believe that your code went away.

Regardless, i was in the same position that the OP was in, and even replacing the bottom o2 did not help. so, i went against what the code said, AND what nissan said, and replaced my top o2. problem solved.

i'm not discrediting you or anyone else, but honestly, i had the same problem as this guy for a year and i told him how i fixed it. if you want to argue that fact, go for it. i can't prove or disprove it worked, but i can tell you it most certainly went away after i changed the primary o2. now, i'm no electrical tech, but it's hard to refute something that works. i looked for months and months and kept reading the problem was the bottom o2, yet every time i replaced mine (or others did theirs) the codes stayed. it's not a coincidence, it was just the wrong thing that needed replaced. take it how you want, with a grain of salt or a shot of vodka, it worked. i'd almost bet money that it would work for him, too.

just for checkings sake, have you checked the wiring running to the bottom o2 AND the top o2? as patric said, it could be a frayed wire somewhere and 0037 is for a bottom o2 (this is a fact, i have the code right now because my bottom o2 isn't even connected), but i'm still willing to bet that it's the primary o2, seeing as he's replaced the bottom o2 before to no avail.

anyway, i hope he gets his shit fixed regardless of what it is. i don't enjoy sentra forums because this shit always turns into a fucking pissing match.

i don't come on here to argue or bitch. if i wanted to do that, i'd sign up over at hondatech.

the ses light just randomly turned off yesterday while driving. I'm going to let the car warm up tomorrow before I drive it and keep it under 3600 rpm and go threw emissions. hope to pass.

I had it for a while. Turns out one of the wires/connector to the plug was bad due to rust and whatever. We took another wire and ran it outside of the plug for a quick fix. You should check with a multimeter and see if it's a good connection.

This may sound really simple and really dumb at the same time; you have replaced the sensor as well as checking all of the wires and you're still getting a code? This happened to me after installing my first header and the second header. I replaced the sensor the first time but in the end, I didn't need to.

Take some electrical/computer cleaner and spray the connection (male and female) down very lightly but thoroughly, and let it sit for a little bit to fully dry up. Clear the code with the pedal dance.

I hope it works for you.

The code has been gone for about 5 days now. It just randomly turned off while driving. So I went and hurried up and took my emissions test and passed. Now I don't care if the code comes back. I'm good for the next 2 years. haha. Thanks for all the input.

Ok guys where to start.... I have been working on this issue for a couple of hours... ( not a skilled licensed mechanic but able to find my way around) I had a code pop for P0037.... This is the H02S2 ( down stream) O2 Sensor Heater Circuit... This is meant to heat the sensor to around 750 deg. I was able to get these docs from Nissan... Found out I had a broken wire near the fire wall and cross members... I will try to get photos of actual location later... Any one still having issues I would try these steps first before spending the $100.00 USD on a new O2 Sensor....

my test as follows : Diag Code 0037, Rear O2 Heater Low Current, 02 Heater Resistance High at 9 OHMS, should be 2.5-5. No Voltage to Heater Circuit at O2
