does the ses light come on? check the ECCS fuse in the fusebox under the hood near the battery. also check the ign circuit (ignition circuit) and fuel injector circuit fuses located near the eccs fuse in the same box.

can you hear the fuel pump prime? check that fuse (blue 10a fuse behind coin tray).

can you hear the ecm relay click over with the turn of the key?

 

Yes. theres a SES. I kept on looking for a "Check Engine" picture that comes in Toyotas.

I can hear some regulator or sorts making noises between the engine and fire wall. Im guessing that would be the ECM?

 

cam/crank sensors?

 

I don't exactly know the location of those sensors... but I will check.

 

One should be near the camshafts with a 10mm bolt holding it into the head, and the other should be on the back of the block near the crank with another 10mm bolt. Both of the sensors are black.

You don't, you just replace them. They are like 30-40 bucks a piece. When they go bad they sometimes will throw a code.. Is your starting intermittent?

 

It started yesterday after I got a new battery. For about 5 min, then I gave it some gas and it died. Didn't start again just cranked. This morning it started, for about 3-5 min. Gave it gas and and it was good. Turned around to see what my dog was doing and it died. Just cranks.

With more visual I need to redo the valve cover gasket. I see oil coming out of the one side. I used a new gasket, should I throw RTV around the whole thing?

I just checked the fuses and they are all good.

The FSM on sr20 sentras say that you need a "continuous bead" of rtv to help seal the valve cover. May be the same on your car.

 

Changed the cam sensor. Started right away. Turned it off after a few minutes. Won't start again. same thing just cranks.

 

Get the car codes checked. That should tell you exactly what's wrong.

Got the sensor, but I can't figure out where it is between the block and firewall. Not alot of room back there at all. Anyone got a DIY or pictures of the location?
